What are my rights with police?

Families members of people who have been arrested don't have to answer any questions without a lawyer.

You may have to provide your name and address when asked.

The police don't have the right to ask for your name or address without a reason. But if they do have a lawful reason, it's an offence to refuse to give them.

Always check the details of a police search warrant, as any items taken by the police during a search can stay in their custody until the matter is resolved. This can take a long time.
