  • Deliver the Family Visits Program in Victorian women’s prisons and support families who are vulnerable or at risk.

The opportunity

The Family Visits Program aims to promote family connectedness, build and strengthen women’s engagement skills, and cultivate positive pro-social relationships through digital video sessions. Bring your well-developed interpersonal skills and passion to support families impacted by the justice system.

This position will commence working remotely from home and from VACRO’s friendly, Melbourne CBD office. However, it is envisaged over coming months this will change to include some prison-based work mainly at Tarrengower Prison but also at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre. Occasional evening work is required. This role involves implementation of a new program so flexibility to adapt to changes for successful program roll out is essential.

Key selection criteria
  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, human services or other relevant field.
  • Experience working with complex clients particularly those who have been in contact with the criminal justice system and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability working with vulnerable families with a focus on family strengthening and reunification.
  • Knowledge of Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Scheme.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within complex stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent computer literacy, including an ability to provide technical support.
