150th Anniversary

150th Anniversary Celebrations

On 30 September 2022 at The Assembly Hall in Melbourne, we celebrated our 150th Anniversary.

Reaching 150 years is an extraordinary milestone. Founded almost 30 years before Federation, we are one of Victoria's oldest non-profit organisations. Since 1872, we have continually provided support to people caught in the justice system and their families, constantly evolving to meet the needs of the people we help.

At our 150th Anniversary Celebration, we shared videos featuring a few people who were previously involved with Vacro, including young adults who, as children, participated in Vacro programs, and a former volunteer whose efforts were focused on supporting families.

Did you miss out on attending our anniversary celebration, or would you like to relive it? Watch the 90-minute video of the event here.

In recognition of our 150th anniversary, condensed version of our rich and inspiring 150-year history has been captured in The VACRO story 1872 to 2022. Click on the image below to access a PDF of the booklet.

Vacro acknowledges the First Nations people of Australia and pay our respect to Elders past and present. We acknowledge the unbroken spiritual and cultural connections of the First Nations People of Australia to their lands. Vacro also supports the Treaty process of acknowledging that lands were never ceded.

Vacro, as a leading voice in the reintegration field, also acknowledges that First Nations people across all jurisdictions are significantly impacted by justice systems as a direct result of colonisation.
