To visit a person in prison in Victoria they must first add you to their visit list. You can't visit a person without being on their list.

They can add you to their visit list from inside prison if they know the following details about you:

  • first name and last name
  • date of birth
  • address

They will tell you when they've added you to their list. You don't have to do anything else.

You can check whether you're on someone's visit list or not by contacting Corrections Victoria, which is in charge of prisons in Victoria:

If you are not on the person's list, but would like to be, you can write to them in prison and ask to be added. You can write directly to the person at their prison, or you can send a letter to Corrections Victoria, who will pass it on. Find specific prison mailing addresses here, or write to:
