There are legal services available for people who can't afford a lawyer.

Federation of Community Legal Centres

An independent community legal organisation providing free legal services to the public. They focus on helping clients who face economic and social disadvantage.

Victorian Legal Aid

A statutory authority that provides free legal services to Victorians. Legal Aid can provide initial legal information over the phone. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you can apply to Legal Aid for a grant of legal assistance to help you pay for a lawyer.

Justice Connect

Justice Connect facilitates pro bono (free) referrals to lawyers for people experiencing disadvantage.

If you do not qualify for one of these services, or can afford a lawyer, you can visit the Law Institute of Victoria's website.

Law Institute of Victoria

The LIV is an online directory service and legal referral service to help locate a lawyer in your area.
