Prior to being incarcerated, Paul had owned a successful construction business and was hoping to return to the industry when he was released. Through word-of-mouth at Middleton Prison, Paul was referred to the Second Chance Jobs program.

Paul’s entire sentence was less than one year, so he was not able to complete all the program modules before being released. However, Paul completed as much as he could in the time he had, and regularly attended appointments with the Second Chance Jobs Work Ready Facilitator.

Just one week after being released, Paul shared that his transition back into the community has been smooth and that he was “back on the tools”, having commenced employment and loving it. Paul believes participating in the Second Chance Jobs program was just what he needed to help him start again and continues to be supported for up to 12 months now that he’s back in the community.
